Sleek MakeUp Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette 'Light' Review

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Recently I was up in the Dundrum Shopping Centre having a little browse around and one of the places I stopped into was Boots. The Boots up in Dundrum stocks Sleek MakeUp so I was really excited about going in and having a look at the range. I usually buy my Sleek products online as there isn't a counter near me but I prefer to be able to swatch the products in a store before I buy. That way I can get a better idea of what products might work for me and what ones may not.
There are always offers on in Boots and the day I ventured in there was a 2 for €14 sticker across all of the Sleek MakeUp range. Depending on what you picked up you could save yourself a good few euro. To give you an idea I could have picked up their 7 piece brush (€16.99) and this contour kit (€13.49) for €14 giving me a saving of....€16.48 pretty decent huh!

In the end though I picked up the Sleek MakeUp iDivine Storm Eyeshadow palette along with the Face Form Kit, as one of my subscribers over on my YouTube channel wanted to see some more eye makeup looks using the Sleek range.
If you have been a follower of my blog or YouTube channel for any length of time it probably comes as no surprise that I picked up a face product from the brand. My all time favourite contour kit is Sleek's Face Contour Kit in the shade 'Light'. I reviewed that a few years ago so if you missed that post you can read it here. I'm also a massive fan of their blushes, I've reviewed the ones I own here, so it only seemed fitting to pick up a product that combined my two loves.

The Sleek MakeUp Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette comes in four shades:
  • Fair
  • Light
  • Medium
  • Dark

Being that I pretty much already owned the light face form kit, I had intended on picking up the kit in the medium or dark shade. Unfortunately Boots didn't stock the dark shade in the Dundrum store and I changed my mind once I laid eyes on the medium kit. Not because I didn't like that particular kit, that wasn't the case at all it was more so to do with the products included in the kit.
What I mean by that is, in the 'fair' and 'light' kits there is a contour shade, a highlighter, and blush included. While in the 'medium' and 'dark' kits there is a contour shade, a highlighter, and a bronzer included.

I knew I wouldn't get the full use out of the 'medium' kit because the only time I would wear a bronzer like the one in the kit is when I'm tanned and that is only on special occasions. I pondered for a few minutes over the 'fair' kit but decided in the end to go for 'light' shade.

The contour and highlight shade are the same products that are in face contour kit 'light' and I'm almost certain the blush in this kit is sold as an individual blush called 'Rose Gold'. I own both of those products which is why I said I pretty much own this face form kit already but despite that I still bought it. I figured it was just handy to have all three products in one palette, perfect for on the go! Plus I would probably have been repurchasing my face contour kit in the next little while anyway so now I don't have to.

The contour shade in this palette is one of the only contour colours that I enjoy wearing on my skin. If you have pale skin it can be hard to find a contouring shade that isn't too warm toned, I find a lot of contour shades can appear quite grubby on paler skin tones. This product is a cool brown and works like a charm. If I want very sculpted cheeks which is usually the case, I take my Sigma Small Contour F05 and apply the product whereas if I wanted to just add a bit of colour to the face I would use it on a larger, less dense brush such as the Sigma Large Angled Contour F40. I've a full video on my favourite face brushes and their uses if you're curious! You can find that here.

The highlight shade is also very flattering on the skin, when the light hits the points where you have applied the product it gives off such a gorgeous glow. It isn't overly glittery it just gives a nice subtle sheen to the skin.

The blush in the palette will suit all skin tones but I think the blush will be the deciding factor for people of whether to buy or not. The blush is a pink/rose shade and has golden shimmery flecks running throughout. If you are not a fan of shimmery blushes then this may be a little off putting. If this is the case I would suggest to only apply the contour shade and the blush, the blush has enough shimmer in it to double up nicely as a highlighter on the cheeks too if you sweep it from the apples of your cheeks back towards your hairline. The blush is very pigmented so pick up a little product, tap off the excess and begin to apply to the cheeks. Keep adding product little by little until you are pleased with the level of intensity.

As you can see from the swatches below each of the three products in the palette are highly pigmented. They are also smooth in texture making them very easy to work with.

I lightly applied the trio to my skin to give you an idea of how the products perform. I have the contour shade in the hollows of my cheeks, the blusher just off the apples of my cheeks and the highlighter along the tops of my cheekbones.

Definitely one to pick up if you are in the market for an affordable contour kit, you really can't go wrong with this one!

theBalm Nude 'Tude Palette Review, Swatches and Tutorial

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Last Summer my Auntie went to Portugal and she told me that she had picked up an eyeshadow palette on the way home from the inflight catalogue on the plane. She had mentioned that she had never heard of the brand before and had just picked it up because she liked the shade range. I asked her to bring it down to show me, I wasn't really sure what to expect but to be honest, I hadn't really high hopes for what she had bought. She came back into the room and as she produced the eyeshadow palette she began "I'm not sure if it's any use but..". I cut her off mid sentence. I squealed with excitement at the sight of theBalm Nude'Tude, not knowing what all the fuss was about she continued "So it's alright then?". Oh if only she really knew!

Initially, the highlighter Mary-Lou Manzier took the Blogging and YouTube world by storm. When the hype surrounding that product finally calmed down, then a new frenzy started and it was all about the Nude'Tude palette. Naturally enough as more and more Bloggers and YouTubers starting featuring the palette in blog posts and videos, the more requests I started getting from my viewers to create a look using the palette. There was just one thing though, I didn't own the palette, but I knew someone who did :)

My trusty Auntie Edna came to the rescue and allowed me to borrow her palette for the video, heck she even told me I could keep it but I couldn't do that, I knew how much she loved it. I enjoyed the palette that much I figured I had to pick it up for myself but then theBalm launched their Nude'Dude palette and I was torn between the two. Recently, I attended the Debenhams winter event and sitting at the top of my very generous goodie bag was the Nude'Tude palette. I couldn't believe it. Now I just need to pick up the Nude'Dude palette and I'm golden. Very long intro aside, let's get on with the review!

This particular Nude'Tude palette is part of a limited edition set. The only difference between buying this set and the palette on its own is that there is a mini 'Put a Lid on It' eyeshadow primer included in this set.

The palette is very well packaged. It comes in a box with one end revealing the mini primer and the other end opening up to reveal the eyeshadow palette. There is then a removable sleeve containing the palette that matches the design on the palette itself. I really like when products come with a sleeve, it just adds a layer of protection and stops your palette getting dirty. In relation to the packaging design, I adore the vintage vibe the palette has.

Within the palette you get 12 eyeshadows that range in textures and finishes. I feel based on the shade range the palette has something for everybody. Also included is a double ended shadow liner brush. I haven't used this brush yet and to be honest based on how the brush feels, I more than likely won't bother with it. The palette opens up to also reveal a large mirror making it handy for when you're on the move.

Let's take a closer look at the eyeshadows.
Sassy: This is a frosted white eyeshadow with good pigmentation.
Stubborn: A light to medium pinky peach shade that also has a frosted finish.
Selfish: Is a frosted taupe brown shade with grey undertones.
Snobby: Shimmery light gold shade. I'd almost say its more of a yellow.
Stand-Offish: In the pan this looks like a light pink but when applied it is more of a light golden brown shade that has a sort of metallic finish.
Sultry: Matte warm brown. Another highly pigmented shade and very easy to blend.

Sophisticated: Warm dark brown shade with shimmer running throughout.
Sexy: Matte warm cranberry/burgandy shade. One of my favourites in the palette, really pigmented and very easy to work with.
Serious: Matte black, its not the most pigmented matte black I have come across. You do need to layer it to get an intense colour payoff.
Seductive: Warm toned golden brown shade with a satin finish.
Silly: Dark brown with red and golden flecks running throughout the shadow. This is another firm favourite of mine!
Sleek: A very dark matte brown shade that is almost black. Pigmentation is fantastic and its nice and buttery so very easy to work with.

Swatches Top Row (L-R)

Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated, Sexy, and Serious.

Swatches Bottom Row (L-R)

Snobby, Stand-Offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly, and Sleek.

As I've said there is something for everyone in this palette. You can create neutral smokey eyes with this palette or really intense dark smokey eyes either. I love deep smokey eyes so I was immediately drawn to the cluster of darker shades along the right hand side of the palette.

To create this grunge inspired makeup look I used the shades:

  • Sleek
  • Sexy
  • Silly
  • Serious
  • Sassy

I've a full tutorial on my channel showing you how to create this look. If you are interested in finding out how, then just click on the play button below!

I am very pleased with how this palette performs. The quality of the shadows is outstanding, they are highly pigmented and are buttery smooth to the touch so they make the blending process very easy to do. The only shade I found that needed a little extra work was the matte black in the palette 'Serious'. It isn't as pigmented as the other shadows in the palette, you need to layer it to get a nice intense payoff. My least favourite shade in the palette is the yellow/golden eyeshadow 'Snobby' and that is just purely because of its colour. The only thing that I feel the palette is missing is a matte highlight shade. If 'Snobby' was replaced with a matte highlight colour I think the palette would be absolutely perfect.

Overall though I'm delighted with the palette and I'd highly recommend. It will set you €35 which I think is quite affordable for what you are getting in terms of quality. Thankfully theBalm products are becoming a lot easier to find here in Ireland. theBalm can be purchased online and in store from Debenhams. For a direct link to the palette on the site you can click here.

Have you tried any products from theBalm yet? If you have,
let me know your favourite!
Until next time,

Urban Decay Naked Palette 3 Tutorial

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Tutorial Tiiiiime! *happy dance*
For todays look I'm using the Urban Decay Naked Palette 3, this tutorial was so highly requested I couldn't believe it! Originally I wasn't overly pushed on picking up this palette, the shadows are rose toned so if you don't like your pinks you won't like this palette. I was a bit iffy about if I would get use out of the palette or not but because it was so highly requested I just had to pick it up :) After using the palette a few times, I know it won't be something I use regularly unlike the original Naked Palette. Slightly kicking myself now, I said to myself I would either pick up the Naked Palette 3 or the Smashbox Full Exposure palette. Now THAT is a palette I need in my life :'(
I will get around to reviewing this palette after I play with it some more but for the moment it just gets a big fat meh. Anyway, without further babbling..if you would like to see some more tutorials using the palette then just let me know!

Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Tutorial

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Today I ha…..well, not today actually. This post is going up a little later than I expected sorry about that! Last Saturday I uploaded a very highly requested tutorial using the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2.
I've had this palette in the house for the guts of nearly 2 years, I didn't particularly want to use it because it was my Mams but I figured she wouldn't want it to go to waste. The palette has only ever been used once when I did my Mams makeup when she first got the palette. So I decided as it had barely been touched I could still take a few snaps for a review which I will do very soon. I'm still having a play around with the palette and I'm not really sure what to make of it yet, but when I know….you will know :)

There are definitely some gorgeous shades in this palette but I don't think I like it anywhere near as much as my beloved original Naked Palette!
Only time will tell though so we shall see!
When I first had a play around with the shadows naturally I leaned towards the darker end of the palette. You can definitely create a range of looks using this palette from wearable to dramatic night out makeup looks.
For this tutorial I did opt for a night out makeup look but I do think without the addition of the liner and lashes, you could wear this as a smokey eye for day time. I would anyway :)
I haven't decided yet if I will create a more natural look using the Naked Palette 2, of course if people wanted one I would. Anyway, this is the look I came up with.

Born Pretty Store: 18 Color Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Before Christmas I was contacted by the lovely Allison from the online "Born Pretty Store". Allison told me I could choose whatever makeup I liked off of the site to do a review/ tutorial on. I had not heard of the website before so I spent quite some time browsing the site before I made up my mind with regard to what I wanted to do. I was very impressed with the variety of products on the site and also the pricing. The site has everything from makeup to clothing, jewelry, stationary, toys, phone cases, nail art…the works!

I had come across some of these products before from other companies however the ones on the Born Pretty Store won't break the bank. After hours of browsing and pondering over products I finally came to a decision about which products I was going to pick.
As you all know I love my colourful shadows so I picked a colourful eyeshadow palette and also a neutral palette. My items were so well packaged, they were wrapped in reams and reams of bubble wrap... they arrived safe and sound! I was super impressed with how efficiently the items were shipped out too, got them in no time!

Today I have a review of the 18 Color Eyeshadow Palette and also a tutorial on how to create a makeup look using some of the eyeshadows.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be doing the same for the colorful eyeshadow palette I received, so you will see how to create a colorful and neutral makeup look. You get the best of both worlds!
The palette arrived enclosed within a black cardboard case with the company logo on the front. Upon opening the case the eyeshadows come in the same style packaging, a black plastic case with the Carmella logo stamped on the front. Plain and simple like almost all of these eyeshadow palettes, nothing over the top fancy!

From the pictures on the website I had expected the eyeshadows to be larger than those in standard eyeshadow palettes. When I opened the palette I was pleasantly surprised with how large the eyeshadows actually were.
There are no matte eyeshadows in the palette they are all shimmery shadows which I didn't mind too much. Perhaps a matte black or a matte highlight shade would have been nice!
Almost all of the eyeshadows are highly pigmented with the exception of a couple of the lighter shades. They do not have a chalky consistency and blend easily! With the use of an eyeshadow base or primer there is little to no fallout from the eyeshadows. That is handy for anyone who applies their foundation first! In the picture below the eyeshadows are swatted once, you can see for yourself just how pigmented they are!

The palette retails at $9.99.
In terms of Euro that works out around €7.39…bargain!
Born Pretty Store offers free shipping worldwide, they ship within 24 hours and there is no minimum spend! The palette and site in general is perfect for anyone starting out in makeup and wants to experiment with eyeshadows without spending a fortune!
Allison has given me a coupon code for subscribers and readers to use :)

I don't earn any money from the code I was just sent the palette :)
On the whole I'm very happy with the palette and overall experience with the company. I'd highly recommend them to anyone :)
If you are interested in picking up this palette you can do so here.

The Urban Decay Naked Palette Review

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Oh the infamous Naked Palette..
I have been dying to get my hands on this palette since it came out in 2010.
I have spent countless hours watching makeup tutorials with the palette on Youtube, I have read numerous blog posts and I can safely say I'm guilty of drooling over swatches. Who wouldn't?..The shadows are simply divine!
At the back of my mind I also had to wonder after all this time if I did purchase the palette..would it live up to the hype?
The 12th of December 2012 was a glorious day, not just because it was my birthday but because I finally got my hands on the palette.
Best birthday present ever, thanks Laura!
I'm a little late hopping on the band waggon but I have hopped on all the same and after many months putting the palette to the test I finally have my review for you :)

Not only did I want the Naked Palette for myself but I had so many requests on YouTube to do tutorials using the palette and I was raging I didn't have it.
Now I do and there is no stopping me..mwahaha >:)

I am not sure why..but I have always thought the palette looked good enough to eat! For some strange reason it reminded me of something one might see in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.....but that's just me haha!
I really like the design of the packaging. The twelve eyeshadows are cased within this chocolate brown felted material palette. On opening the palette you will see there is a mirror inside, which is always a plus as its perfect for travel. Sticking with the travel point, there is also a flat eyeshadow brush included in the palette which is extremely handy. To my pleasant surprise the brush is quite good quality, it picks up the shadow well and when used with a patting motion there is little to no eyeshadow fallout.

The palette includes 12 eyeshadows, 10 of which are shimmer and the remaining 2 are matte. The matte shadows in the palette are a light brown and a warm brown shade which are essential shadows in any palette in my opinion.
I love how neat the palette is. In particular, I like the placement of the shadow.
The first eyeshadow is a typical highlight shade and the shadows gradually work there way up to darker more intense colours such as deep greys/blacks.

'Naked' and 'Buck' are the two brown shadows in the palette.
Brown eyeshadows are essential in my daily makeup routine, I have found that I tend to delve into 'Buck' more so than 'Naked'.
Whether it is for setting my eyebrows in place after the use of a pencil, being swept in the crease of my eye to help with the blending process or being used to contour the hollows of my cheeks..Buck is an all rounder!

All of the eyeshadows in this palette are highly pigmented, easy to work with and blend beautifully across the eye lids. I find that a common problem with all eyeshadows is that when you blend two shadows together you can lose a bit of the intensity of the colour, another plus about these shadows is that they are buildable and offer amazing staying power especially with the use of the Primer Potion included in the set.

I have been using the Primer Potion religiously since I received this palette. Again, the Primer Potion was another makeup item I had been curious about for far too long I'm not sure why I didn't pick it up sooner!
The primer has a creamy consistency but not too creamy as when it is spread over the lid it dries to a slightly sticky consistency which really helps grasp the eyeshadows. I definitely find that my eyeshadows are more intense and last much longer with the use of the primer opposed to none at all. I'll definitely have to look into purchasing the full size when this one runs out!

(swatches in the order that they appear in the palette)

Without a shadow of a doubt (pun intended haw haw), my favourite thing about this palette is simply how versatile it is. My makeup artist kit is never without this palette I always end up using this palette on clients whether it be for bridal or just a typical night out. I have created a couple of looks with this palette with tutorials if you are interested in checking those out. I have created an everyday smokey eye followed by a smokey eye perfect for a night out.
I'll leave a link to them below so you can see the palette in action for yourself!

It is definitely an investment at €42, it is a lot of money for an eyeshadow palette but it is worth every penny! I have been using this palette religiously since December and I have only almost hit pan on one of the eyeshadows.
The palette definitely lived up to all the hype.
I would recommend it to absolutely everyone, especially makeup artists this is one palette you need in your kit!

To see the palette in action just hit the play buttons below! :)

Thanks for tuning in guys!
Have a lovely day :)
