Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil 1993, Bittersweet, and Bad Blood Swatches and Review

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

You might remember that recently I reviewed one of the Urban Decay Matte Revolution lipsticks, well now the company have released liners to match! A fantastic idea and will be very helpful to those of you out there that have trouble matching up lipliners to lipsticks. Lip products come in different shades, tones and textures so it can be a tricky one to figure out. Urban Decay have now made that process simpler, all you have to do is simply select a shade of lip liner and then locate the matte revolution lipstick with the same name and you're good to go!
The 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils come in 16 different shades and I have three of them in my collection so today I'm going to give you my two cents on Urban Decays latest releases.

First up we have Bad Blood. This is a gorgeous deep red shade that sets to a matte finish.

Next up we have Bittersweet. This is a vibrant fushia shade that has a cool undertone and sets to a matte finish.

Finally then I have the shade 1993, which I can imagine is going to be extremely popular. 1993 is a medium brown shade that also sets to a matte finish.

Urban Decay describe these pencils as creamy liners and they are just that. The pencils are soft and creamy making them glide onto the lips very easily, they don't pull or drag across the lips. However while they are soft, they aren't too soft that they crumble up on the lips. You can still get a nice sharp and defined lip line using these pencils. All of the pencils that I own set to a matte finish. As my lips are usually quite dry, it is more so evident that my lips are dry and cracked when I wear these lip liners. It isn't noticeable when I'm smiling or talking but when I'm resting my face it is more evident, as you can see from this photo below.

If you have dry lips like myself and you want to wear the lip liner on its own I would suggest to really prep the lips beforehand, this will ensure a nice smooth and even appearance. While my lips are dry I didn't find that the lip liners added to that, they didn't dry my lips out further and they weren't uncomfortable to wear. If you are wearing the lip liner on its own your lips will feel a little tacky but its nothing major. To eliminate the tacky feeling I add a very light dusting of translucent powder. This sets the liner in place and takes down the sticky feeling but it doesn't alter the colour of the product.

The lip liners are very pigmented and are long lasting so they can be worn on there own or as a base for another lip product. From the application photos you can see that all three lip liners performed more or less as well as each other. Bad blood perhaps performed a little better than the other two, only slightly. The colour didn't fade as much during the day as the other two shades but a little more product lifted from the centre of my lip. I tested them all for a period of eight and a half hours each because Urban Decay state they have an eight hour wear time. With eating and drinking throughout the day all of the lip liners only wore down in the centre of the lips, which isn't too shabby in my opinion. The lip liners stayed pretty much in tact until the six hour mark with some fading of colour throughout the day. After the six hour mark the liner started to flake and fade off completely in the centre of my lips. As my photos are extreme close ups it is very noticeable that the lip liner has worn in the centre of my lips but if we were having a conversation in person it isn't overly obvious.

I tested out the lip liners as a base to see how they would perform and I wasn't disappointed. As I only own one of the Matte Revolution lipsticks and its not a shade that matches any of my lip liners I tested the lip liners with lipsticks from other brands first. They lasted on the lips for the full eight hours with just some fading to the colour, I wasn't left with a patchy appearance to my lips. I was curious then to see how the Matte Revolution lipstick would perform with the lip liner so I paired my shade 'After Dark' with the 'Bad Blood' lip liner. It didn't matter that the colours differed slightly because I was applying one on top of the other. Like with the other lipsticks, the colour of the lipstick had faded at the end of the day but I didn't have any product missing from the centre of my lips like I did when I wore the lip liner on its own.

Either way I'm extremely pleased with how the lip liners perform both on their own and as a base. On there own they don't live up to Urban Decays eight hour claim but six hours is good enough for me. I enjoy them more so when paired with a lipstick on top, the products last longer!
I'm equally as impressed with the 24-7 Glide-On Pencils as I am with the Matte Revolution lipstick, I'm really looking forward to picking up more from the range especially a matching pair!

The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils retail at €18.50 and are available from Debenhams online and instore. For a direct link you can click here.

Until next time!

theBalm Nude 'Tude Palette Review, Swatches and Tutorial

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Last Summer my Auntie went to Portugal and she told me that she had picked up an eyeshadow palette on the way home from the inflight catalogue on the plane. She had mentioned that she had never heard of the brand before and had just picked it up because she liked the shade range. I asked her to bring it down to show me, I wasn't really sure what to expect but to be honest, I hadn't really high hopes for what she had bought. She came back into the room and as she produced the eyeshadow palette she began "I'm not sure if it's any use but..". I cut her off mid sentence. I squealed with excitement at the sight of theBalm Nude'Tude, not knowing what all the fuss was about she continued "So it's alright then?". Oh if only she really knew!

Initially, the highlighter Mary-Lou Manzier took the Blogging and YouTube world by storm. When the hype surrounding that product finally calmed down, then a new frenzy started and it was all about the Nude'Tude palette. Naturally enough as more and more Bloggers and YouTubers starting featuring the palette in blog posts and videos, the more requests I started getting from my viewers to create a look using the palette. There was just one thing though, I didn't own the palette, but I knew someone who did :)

My trusty Auntie Edna came to the rescue and allowed me to borrow her palette for the video, heck she even told me I could keep it but I couldn't do that, I knew how much she loved it. I enjoyed the palette that much I figured I had to pick it up for myself but then theBalm launched their Nude'Dude palette and I was torn between the two. Recently, I attended the Debenhams winter event and sitting at the top of my very generous goodie bag was the Nude'Tude palette. I couldn't believe it. Now I just need to pick up the Nude'Dude palette and I'm golden. Very long intro aside, let's get on with the review!

This particular Nude'Tude palette is part of a limited edition set. The only difference between buying this set and the palette on its own is that there is a mini 'Put a Lid on It' eyeshadow primer included in this set.

The palette is very well packaged. It comes in a box with one end revealing the mini primer and the other end opening up to reveal the eyeshadow palette. There is then a removable sleeve containing the palette that matches the design on the palette itself. I really like when products come with a sleeve, it just adds a layer of protection and stops your palette getting dirty. In relation to the packaging design, I adore the vintage vibe the palette has.

Within the palette you get 12 eyeshadows that range in textures and finishes. I feel based on the shade range the palette has something for everybody. Also included is a double ended shadow liner brush. I haven't used this brush yet and to be honest based on how the brush feels, I more than likely won't bother with it. The palette opens up to also reveal a large mirror making it handy for when you're on the move.

Let's take a closer look at the eyeshadows.
Sassy: This is a frosted white eyeshadow with good pigmentation.
Stubborn: A light to medium pinky peach shade that also has a frosted finish.
Selfish: Is a frosted taupe brown shade with grey undertones.
Snobby: Shimmery light gold shade. I'd almost say its more of a yellow.
Stand-Offish: In the pan this looks like a light pink but when applied it is more of a light golden brown shade that has a sort of metallic finish.
Sultry: Matte warm brown. Another highly pigmented shade and very easy to blend.

Sophisticated: Warm dark brown shade with shimmer running throughout.
Sexy: Matte warm cranberry/burgandy shade. One of my favourites in the palette, really pigmented and very easy to work with.
Serious: Matte black, its not the most pigmented matte black I have come across. You do need to layer it to get an intense colour payoff.
Seductive: Warm toned golden brown shade with a satin finish.
Silly: Dark brown with red and golden flecks running throughout the shadow. This is another firm favourite of mine!
Sleek: A very dark matte brown shade that is almost black. Pigmentation is fantastic and its nice and buttery so very easy to work with.

Swatches Top Row (L-R)

Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated, Sexy, and Serious.

Swatches Bottom Row (L-R)

Snobby, Stand-Offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly, and Sleek.

As I've said there is something for everyone in this palette. You can create neutral smokey eyes with this palette or really intense dark smokey eyes either. I love deep smokey eyes so I was immediately drawn to the cluster of darker shades along the right hand side of the palette.

To create this grunge inspired makeup look I used the shades:

  • Sleek
  • Sexy
  • Silly
  • Serious
  • Sassy

I've a full tutorial on my channel showing you how to create this look. If you are interested in finding out how, then just click on the play button below!

I am very pleased with how this palette performs. The quality of the shadows is outstanding, they are highly pigmented and are buttery smooth to the touch so they make the blending process very easy to do. The only shade I found that needed a little extra work was the matte black in the palette 'Serious'. It isn't as pigmented as the other shadows in the palette, you need to layer it to get a nice intense payoff. My least favourite shade in the palette is the yellow/golden eyeshadow 'Snobby' and that is just purely because of its colour. The only thing that I feel the palette is missing is a matte highlight shade. If 'Snobby' was replaced with a matte highlight colour I think the palette would be absolutely perfect.

Overall though I'm delighted with the palette and I'd highly recommend. It will set you €35 which I think is quite affordable for what you are getting in terms of quality. Thankfully theBalm products are becoming a lot easier to find here in Ireland. theBalm can be purchased online and in store from Debenhams. For a direct link to the palette on the site you can click here.

Have you tried any products from theBalm yet? If you have,
let me know your favourite!

Born Pretty Store: 18 Color Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Before Christmas I was contacted by the lovely Allison from the online "Born Pretty Store". Allison told me I could choose whatever makeup I liked off of the site to do a review/ tutorial on. I had not heard of the website before so I spent quite some time browsing the site before I made up my mind with regard to what I wanted to do. I was very impressed with the variety of products on the site and also the pricing. The site has everything from makeup to clothing, jewelry, stationary, toys, phone cases, nail art…the works!

I had come across some of these products before from other companies however the ones on the Born Pretty Store won't break the bank. After hours of browsing and pondering over products I finally came to a decision about which products I was going to pick.
As you all know I love my colourful shadows so I picked a colourful eyeshadow palette and also a neutral palette. My items were so well packaged, they were wrapped in reams and reams of bubble wrap... they arrived safe and sound! I was super impressed with how efficiently the items were shipped out too, got them in no time!

Today I have a review of the 18 Color Eyeshadow Palette and also a tutorial on how to create a makeup look using some of the eyeshadows.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be doing the same for the colorful eyeshadow palette I received, so you will see how to create a colorful and neutral makeup look. You get the best of both worlds!
The palette arrived enclosed within a black cardboard case with the company logo on the front. Upon opening the case the eyeshadows come in the same style packaging, a black plastic case with the Carmella logo stamped on the front. Plain and simple like almost all of these eyeshadow palettes, nothing over the top fancy!

From the pictures on the website I had expected the eyeshadows to be larger than those in standard eyeshadow palettes. When I opened the palette I was pleasantly surprised with how large the eyeshadows actually were.
There are no matte eyeshadows in the palette they are all shimmery shadows which I didn't mind too much. Perhaps a matte black or a matte highlight shade would have been nice!
Almost all of the eyeshadows are highly pigmented with the exception of a couple of the lighter shades. They do not have a chalky consistency and blend easily! With the use of an eyeshadow base or primer there is little to no fallout from the eyeshadows. That is handy for anyone who applies their foundation first! In the picture below the eyeshadows are swatted once, you can see for yourself just how pigmented they are!

The palette retails at $9.99.
In terms of Euro that works out around €7.39…bargain!
Born Pretty Store offers free shipping worldwide, they ship within 24 hours and there is no minimum spend! The palette and site in general is perfect for anyone starting out in makeup and wants to experiment with eyeshadows without spending a fortune!
Allison has given me a coupon code for subscribers and readers to use :)

I don't earn any money from the code I was just sent the palette :)
On the whole I'm very happy with the palette and overall experience with the company. I'd highly recommend them to anyone :)
If you are interested in picking up this palette you can do so here.

Festive Fun: Christmas Party Makeup

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Today I bring to you the very first of my Christmas makeup tutorials for the party season. Once December is upon us then I will decorate my YouTube background for the tutorials! I just couldn't bring myself to do it in....
 November
am I a grinch? oops!
Recently I popped into the Body Shop to check out their Christmas range and I came across the most beautiful eyeshadow palette, I just had to pick it up!
The shadows are simply perfect for the party season, anyone who is a fan of neutrals will get use out of it all year round...I know I will!
Beside where the eyeshadow palettes were stocked there was a couple of red lipsticks on display, you can never have enough red lipsticks so I bought that too! No Christmas look is complete without a pop of red, right? :)

4 Step Smoky Eye: Smoky Brown

I will have a full review up of the palette once I play around with it a bit more but so far I adore it! Here is the look I created recently :)

The colours are so flattering on all eye colours in particular blue and the shimmer off the shadows is something gorgeous!

To finish off the look I used '101 Colour Crush' from the Body Shop. Its such a beautiful glossy shade of red and the staying power is fantastic, I can't fault it!

If you would like to see how I created this look then just click on the play button below :) Hope you guys enjoy!

Collection Smokey Eyes Palette #3 Smokey

Hey Everyone!
Hope you all are well :)

Today I have an eyeshadow palette review for you all.
I have been looking around trying to find some budget buys for my cheap and cheerful series that I am currently doing.
First stop...Boots!

Currently there are tonnes and tonnes of offers on across different ranges in Boots. As I was browsing through the different stands I wasn't seeing anything that was jumping out at me...until I came to the Collection stand.
I think the only things I have ever tried from Collection was a tinted moisturiser and a green concealer back when I was 14 and they were called Collection 2000. I have been lusting over the much hyped Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, however each time I have popped in it has been out of stock! Well in the ghostly shade that I want anyway :)

On the Collection stand there was an offer running:
Buy one get one half price
Buy 2 get the cheapest one half price

FINALLY, I found the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 'Fair' in stock in the Boots on Grafton Street. I picked that up along with this beautiful eyeshadow palette that caught my eye.

I love the packaging, it stood out from every other eyeshadow palette on display in there! On the reverse side of the palette it explains to you how to create the smokey eye look. I always like to see this on the palette as the step by steps are great for everyone, especially beginners!
Inside the palette you will find 9 eyeshadows each labelled either
'Dark', 'Light' or 'Medium', meaning you have the option of creating 3 entirely different looks..minimum!

To use the palette, Collection suggest the following steps:
1. Blend the Medium shade over the eyelid.
2. Brush the Dark shade from the outer corner and blend to the centre of the lid. For more impact, sweep along the lower lash line.
3. Use the light shade to highlight the brow bone.
4. Brighten the inner corner of the eye with the cream.

Starting with the first row, as you can see from the swatch below the light shade is almost non existent. I only swatched the shadow once on my arm, for the white to appear on the skin you needed 2-3 layers of the shadow.

Here is the look I created using the palette :)

I love the second row of shadows. The three shadows are highly pigmented and give off such a beautiful sheen when blended across the eye lid.

Here is how they look in action :)

This is a swatch of the third row. In this row we have a medium shade, a dark shade, followed by a cream shade. We have two different highlight shades we can choose between and the cream shade is used in all three makeup looks as a highlight around the tear duct of the eye.

Here is the third look :)
I decided to use the medium and dark shade on the third row, followed by the pink iridescent 'light' shade on the second row as my brow bone highlight.

I am extremely impressed with the quality and pigmentation of these shadows.
All of the eyeshadows in the palette except for the white shade are very vibrant with just one swatch of the colours. This was the only palette of the range available in Boots at the time I was in the store. After looking up online I am definitely interested in checking out some more...especially the more colourful ones!

I picked up the palette and the concealer for around €9!
The palette is around €6 which is only €2 per makeup look I think we can all agree that Bargain Hunter Byrne strikes again >:)

If you would like to see how I created the three makeup looks, just click on the play button below! Hope you enjoy the tutorial :D

Thanks a million for tuning in guys.
See you in my next video/review!
